Linus Jack

Linus Jack was born July 21, 2011 at 24 weeks and 5 days weighing only 1 pound 8 ounces and measuring 12.5 inches. Linus spent his first 3 months being cared for at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of our local hospital. Shortly after his birth, the doctors and nurses agreed that Linus was quite a feisty little man, and he has proved that on more than one occasion.

There have been a few bumps in the road as I learn to parent a preemie, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Since his homecoming on October 23, 2011, Linus has been an absolute joy. He completes our family. His 7 siblings adore him, and I can certainly see the feeling is mutual.

A few weeks ago, Linus' pediatrician referred us to a specialist for cranium remolding. Linus was found to have Plagiocephaly, abnormal head shape, and Torticollis, a condition where the neck muscles on one side are tightened or shortened. A helmet, along with some repositioning will work to fix Linus' misshapen head ,while physical therapy will help resolve the Torticollis.

This blog was created to keep a photo journal of Linus' journey with his helmet. It is my hope that one day Linus will look back at these photos and smile. I also hope that I can reach other parents who may be going through a similar situation with their child.

I hope you have fun joining Linus on his new adventure.
