Yard Sale Finds

Abigail needed a computer desk for her room.  I have been on the lookout for Craigslist posts and yard sale advertisements.  The other night, I found a post on Craigslist advertising a free computer desk that was placed on the curb because it didn't sell at a yard sale.
Abigail wasn't necessarily impressed with the desk, but I knew we could make it work.  Last week, I watched an episode of Nate Berkus where he highlighted various thrift shop finds.  He created a beautiful living room out of furniture bought inexpensively at thrift shops and then jazzed up with a mix of his design knowledge and a touch of creativity.  It would be so much fun to have Nate come here and help me reorganize and redecorate some of my living spaces.
First, the desk was spray painted black.  Then, tape was placed over the black in a zebra stripe design.
Abigail's room is aqua blue and lime green.  The theme of her room is zebra stripes and Paris.  It has a touch of the Eiffel Tower along with a zebra striped flair.  We are still adding on to the decor as time goes on and the budget allows.
Lime green paint covered the black paint on the top of the desk and blue paint was added to the sides and shelves.
We peeled back the tape to reveal the zebra stripes, and then we reassembled the desk.

It is a great complement to her room and it only cost us the price of the spray paint.
